Volunteer Opportunities

NRC welcomes both member and non-member volunteers!

All of our youth and adult programs are run by volunteers, and we need your help!

Your involvement keeps our community strong and allows us to support the development of whitewater sport in the United States.

Races & Events

  • Help us put on slalom, freestyle, and downriver competitions on the Nantahala River.
    Positions include Start/Finish, Judges, Scoring, Boat Control, Registration/Check-In.
    No special skills are required.
  • Help organize membership outings and gatherings, including the Annual Membership Banquet

Facilities & Training Site Maintenance

  • Help build courses for daily training and races. This involves working outdoors with your hands to hang gates, move rocks, and in general helping to keep our training sites clean and safe.
    No special skills are required.

Coaching & Outreach

  • Help coach youth and adult programs in freestyle, downriver, and slalom, including weekend mini-camps, Nantahala Kids Club, and one-day clinics.
  • All NRC Coaches that work with children must participate in an abuse prevention program.
  • All coaches must adhere to the Nantahala Racing Club’s Coaches Code of Conduct, including being Safesport Certified.
