Sunday slalom: 7-18\n\nThis family-friendly NRC¬†Mini-Camp is designed to provide kids with a fun river experience\, encourage participants to strengthen whitewater skills and confidence\, and build a stronger group dynamic for young local paddlers.¬†Sunday's beginner-level slalom race introduces the idea of slalom as a fun\, competitive outlet.\nProgram Details\nTuck Gorge River Run:\nSaturday\, June 17 -¬†The group will paddle the Tuckaseegee River¬†from Ela¬†to Island Park. Families are encouraged to join us in kayaks or rafts. Cost is $10/person.\n\n\nMini-Slalom:\nSunday\, June 18 -¬†A beginner-friendly slalom race at Tuck Gates slalom course. Participants will get a practice run and 2 race runs each. Riverside free-time will follow the race. Slalom gates and technique are a great tool for building precision whitewater skills and¬†are a fun\, competitive aspect of kayaking.\nParents are encouraged to pack a lunch and join us after the race for a riverside picnic.\nPre-requisites: All youth participants must be NRC members. Kayakers¬†must be comfortable performing a¬†wet-exit and be willing to try new things in flat and moving water.* There are no pre-requisites for rafters. Parents who have their own kayak equipment are encouraged to join us as safety boats!\n*Please consult with an NKC or ASK instructor about whether your child is ready to kayak\, or would be better off in a raft.
