This August, athletes from across the USA will converge on the Nantahala River in Western North Carolina to compete in the ACA Age Group National Slalom and Freestyle Championships. This National Championship kayaking event invites athletes of multiple age groups, including masters (age 35 and older) as well as younger paddlers (ages 23 and under) to compete in the exciting whitewater disciplines of slalom, extreme slalom (aka “Boatercross”) and freestyle.

Classes: WC1 (Women’s Single Canoe), MK1 (Men’s Single Canoe), WK1 (Women’s single Kayak), MK1 (Men’s Sigle Kayak), XC2 (Men’s, Women’s and Mixed C2).

AGN Slalom: Official ACA Age Group National Championship slalom competition on the Nantahala bridge gate course. Race will be run in accordance with ACA Canoe Slalom Competition Rules with an ICF Certified Head Judge officiating.
AGN Extreme Slalom (aka BoaterCross): Official ACA Age Group National Championship extreme slalom competition on the Nantahala bridge gate course. Head-to-head format through a five-gate course where competitors will be required to roll at one point during the course. Race will be run in accordance with ACA Canoe Slalom Competition Rules with an ICF Certified Head Judge officiating.
AGN Freestyle: Freestyle competition at the 2013 Worlds Hole on the Nantahala River. Scoring guidelines will be posted at the event site prior to the competition. Citizen Slalom: Beginner friendly slalom race on the Nantahala Bridge gate course and will run left of the island (not through the 2013 hole). There will be classes for both slalom and plastic/rec boats. River Run: Join current and former US National Team members for a noncompetitive paddling trip down the Nantahala River. Parents and volunteers are invited to participate! Banquet Dinner: All participants free entry. Banquet is held in conjunction with NRC Membership Banquet.
Pre-registration: Register Online by August, 6th to avoid late fees Onsite registration: Register on-site from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Friday for weekend competition, there will be NO REGISTRATION ON SATURDAY OR SUNDAY. A $20 late fee applies to previously unregistered athletes. No late fee applies to registered athletes wishing to add an additional class or event during on-site registration.
